Cross-country skiing
There are over 500 kilometres of ski tracks in Pallas-Yllästunturi area, most of which are maintained mechanically. On maintained ski tracks, both the traditional style and skating technique may be used. On open fells and in mires, ski tracks are marked with posts with crosses or plastic canes. In places, ski tracks through forests are marked with blue, red or orange triangles on trees. There are signposts at junctions. The ski tracks are serviced by four maintenance pools. Maps of ski tracks are sold by tourism companies and Visitor Centres in the area. Digital maps of all tracks are also available.
- The ski tracks take visitors to the heart of the park, to the slopes of fells and the silence of wintry mires.
- There are ski tracks for both short and longer excursions.
- See the maintenance pools’ digital track maps for the current status of ski track maintenance.
