Valtavaara is an excellent destination for a day trip. There are trails on Valtavaara, Konttainen, Pyhävaara, and Juhannuskallio. The famous Karhunkierros trail, which passes over Valtavaara and Konttainen, stretches all the way to Hautajärvi.

The vegetation on the fell tops is delicate and cannot withstand foot traffic, so please stay on marked trails.
