Hiking services
Campsites can be found on the Valtavaara and Pyhävaara day trails. There are no hiking structures at Konttainen and Juhannuskallio.
Campsites
- As campsites are shared resting places, you should show consideration towards other hikers.
- There is no waste management at the campsites, so bring your rubbish home.
- Lighting fires is only allowed at serviced and designated campfire sites.
- Before you light a fire, always check if any forest fire warnings are in effect. When a forest fire warning has been issued, lighting fires is prohibited.
- Firewood is provided at campfire sites. Remember that you may have to chop up the wood yourself. Please use the firewood sparingly.
- Do not burn rubbish or tear off bark from living trees. You can use a small amount of clean paper and cardboard to light your fire.
- The last person to leave the campfire site is always responsible for putting out the fire.

Valtavaara päivätupa
Day cottage
Alun perin palovartijan majaksi rakennettu Valtavaaran päivätupa sijaitsee Kuusamon korkeimmalla luonnontilaisella vaaralla, Valtavaaralla. Karhunkierroksen (4 km Rukatunturilta), Valtavaaran huiputuksen ja Valtavaaran lumikenkäilyreitin varrella. Vaatimaton päivätupa on käytössä vuoden ympäri. Päivätupa on avoin ja jaettava levähdyspaikka omatoimiretkeilijöille päiväkäyttöön vuoden ympäri ilman varausta tai maksua. Päivätuvassa ei saa yöpyä. - Ei juomavesipistettä. Luonnonvedet puhdistettava ennen juomista. - Ei jätehuoltoa. Tuo omat jätteesi pois maastosta. - Tupaan voi tuoda lemmikkieläimiä vain muiden tuvan käyttäjien suostumuksella.

Drinking water
- There are no drinking water points in the area, which is why you should carry enough drinking water in your backpack.
- While there are lakes in Valtavaara and Pyhävaara areas, the quality of water in natural sources is not tested. We recommend that you boil the water for at least five minutes or use water purification tablets before drinking it.
- Do not wash dishes or yourself in natural waters or on well covers.
- After use, remember to soak any washing water into the ground far enough away from natural waters or water supply points.
Toilets
- Remember to bring your own toilet paper.
- You can tip small amounts of leftover food into the dry toilet. Check the instructions for using the toilet provided at the campsite.
Waste disposal
- Take your rubbish home, do not burn it.
- Remember to bring some rubbish bags when you go out.
- Do not throw food waste out in the forest.
