How does it sound to hike in the dark snowy forest during the polar night? Or learning how the animals and plants are adapted for the dark and cold winter? Rokua Geopark offers unique nature experiences around the year! River Oulujoki valley, Rokua esker and dune area and Lake Oulujärvi comprise the beautiful landscape areas of Rokua Geopark, where the geological, natural and human history form a fascinating story spanning thousands of years. Rokua Geopark is the first tourist destination in Finland to have UNESCO Global Geopark status. Option for transport. Equipment doesn't include. Take care your shoes and clothes are compatible with weather.

    Let's Breathe the forest! Nature Power is intended for individuals or groups who need a touch of nature in order to calm down, to gain additional power, or a new perspective on their own creativity. If, instead of calming down, your body needs to be challenged, we’ll offer a heartrate-boosting workout. Our partner network includes experts in workplace well-being, meditation, visual arts, and handicrafts. This means we can create a package to specifically suit you or your group. For example: LET'S BREATHE THE FOREST! Enjoy in the arms of the Finnish forest. During the nature walk we challenge our senses to hear, feel and see the surrounding nature holistically. Breathing exercises soothe us by the trees. We hear local stories and learn what the forest means to Finns. A relaxing moment in clean nature increases health and relieves stress. In summer this can be arranged also during the night. After the walk we sit by the campfire. Everyone gets to make a memory for themselves; a little piece of jewerly made from a local reed. Coffee/tea with a little sweet and sausages are served. NATURE CARE FOR SPECIAL GROUPS AND INSTITUTIONS For special groups, we have safe and goal-oriented nature care services. For us, every customer is special and is approached as a complete individual. We are building nature care services for people with intellectual disabilities, child protection customers, substance abuse and mental health rehabilitation. For rehabilitation facilities and assisted living, we also bring the nature experiences indoors. We can also arrange transport if you need. Equipment doesn't include.   • Guided Tour from Oulu to the Rokua National Park with a private guide

    The guide will pick you up directly from your accommodation in Oulu. We will drive about one hour through the valley of the Oulu River towards Rokua National Park. During the drive, you will hear interesting stories about the history of the valley and its settlements. In Rokua, we will hike about 7 km in the landscapes shaped during the last Ice Age. Our trip takes us to the best destinations in the national park, such as Finland’s deepest kettle hole, Syvyydenkaivo, and parks highest point, Pookivaara with its famous observation tower. At the lake Pitkäjärvi, we will take a relaxing break. You can refresh yourself even with a dip in the crystal-clear water of the kettle lake! During the hike, your guide will tell you about the unique features of the national park, the Rokua Geopark, the formation of the landscape, and the flora and fauna of the area. In addition, you will hear stories about the area’s past, residents and visitors. After the hiking, you can rest and relax while the guide brings you back to your accommodation. On our way, you can get more information about the history of the region and the city of Oulu.

    LEARNING AND DISCOVERING INSIGHTS IN THE FOREST AND FROM THE FOREST Are you organizing a camp for foreign school or student groups? We offer workshops with an emphasis on nature and the environment as parts or a total package. Our multilingual forest pedagogists dive into their role and draw in even the shyest participants. From a couple of hours to several days, you can order packages from us on a variety of topics. With our forest pedagogists, learning new things is full of activities where the learner does not just remain in the role of the listener. An inclusive and inspiring teaching method that takes you on a ride in the inspiring setting created by the nature. EXAMPLES: 1. Workshops in the forest nature; themes such as forest animals, Finnish folklore, art time, natural products, learning mathematics, story workshop, everyman’s rights, wilderness skills, sustainable development, etc. 2. Getting to know the materials from the nature and working together on an environmental artwork. 3. A day as a forest planner. What does sustainable forest planning mean? Learning how to read the forest. 4. A brush-saw course for a small group. Theory and practice for beginners. 5. Physical, psychological, and mental wellness impacts of the forest. We exercise in the natural gym, do mental exercises, find our own favourite place, and calm down surrounded by nature. 6.   • Snowshoeing through the Rokua National Park

    The tour combines snowshoeing, the unique nature of the Rokua National Park, stories, and relaxing moments. At the start, we will fit your snowshoes and give an introduction on how to use them. Then, we will head to the most significant landmarks of the national park: Syvyydenkaivo, Finland’s deepest kettle hole, and Pookivaara, the highest point in the park. Along the way, your private guide will share information about the national park, the Rokua Geopark, and how the last Ice Age has shaped this unique landscape. At our resting place, Pookivaara, a cozy hut awaits you, where you can warm up with a hot drink and hear stories about the past, the region’s residents, and its visitors. On the way back, you will learn more about the diverse nature, trees, plants, and wildlife of this unique national park. The tour is in total about 6 km long.
