The trails on the eskers of Rokua lead hikers through dry pine heaths and shining white carpets of lichen. From Pookivaara observation tower on the highest point of the National Park, views open out all the way to Lake Oulujärvi. Rokua National Park is part of Rokua Geopark and UNESCO's international Geopark network.

Activities and trails

Most trails in Rokua National Park make for easy walking. The total length of the trails is around 35 kilometres.

The mountain biking network in Rokua National Park is around 40 kilometres in length and suitable for beginners.

The National Park’s ski track network brings visitors to beautiful winter landscapes.

Rokua's Nature

Carpets of shining white lichen and ageing pine forests are a typical sight in the dry heath forests of Rokua National Park. Small esker lakes and mires in dell bottoms add variety to the landscape.
