Staying overnight in Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park
In the National Park a hiker can stay overnight in their own tent, in an open wilderness hut, in a shared rental hut or rent a rental hut.
Camping
- In the Special zone, Recreational zone and Cultural zone Camping is permitted only in the vicinity of wilderness huts, campfire huts and campfire sites. See campsite locations from the Hiking services-page.
- In the Wilderness Zone camping is allowed freely.
- The use of stove-heated tents and saunas is prohibited in the national park.
- When camping, be considerate towards other hikers and those staying overnight. They may be tired after their day’s hike and wish to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.
- Camping is forbidden in the restricted zones.
Huts
- A open wilderness hut is shared accommodation where self-guided hikers can rest and spend the night free of charge.
- In a shared rental hut, you can book a bed for one or two nights against payment.
- A rental hut is accommodation that you can rent for your private use for one or several nights.

Rávdojohka / Rautuoja Open Wilderness Hut
A modest open wilderness hut is available year-round. A demanding wilderness destination. The wilderness hut is situated on the bank of the River Rautuoja on the west side of Outtakka Fell near Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park's western boundary. There is no marked trail leading to the hut. The open wilderness hut is a shared and free resting and overnight place for independent hikers (not for companies). You can stay in wilderness huts for one or two nights without a reservation. Be prepared for the possibility that there may not be enough space to sleep in the hut. The hut is situated about 300 m west of the Muonio - Kittilä municipal boundary, on the east side of the Lake Äkäsjärvi on the northern edge of Pahtavuoma Mire The open wilderness hut is a shared and free resting and overnight place for independent hikers (not for companies). Mustakero Open Wilderness Hut (closed until further notice)
Mustakero Open Wilderness Hut is closed until further notice. The closure applies to all structures on the premises, including the dry toilet and woodshed. Camping is forbidden.
Vuontisjärvi Open Wilderness Hut
A modest open wilderness hut is available year-round. The hut is located on the northwest shore of Lake Vuontisjärvi, along the Muonio - Hetta Snowmobile Trail. The open wilderness hut is a shared and free resting and overnight place for independent hikers (not for companies). You can stay in wilderness huts for one or two nights without a reservation. Hannukuru Shared Rental Hut
In a paid shared rental hut, you secure your sleeping place by booking for 1–2 nights. Both familiar and unfamiliar hikers stay together in the shared rental hut. Hannukuru shared rental hut has two sides, named Hanna and Hannu, with a total of 24 beds (12 in each side). There is a sauna at the small lake, situated about 150 metres from the hut. The sauna fee is €10/person.
Kutujärvi Open Wilderness Hut
A modest open wilderness hut is available year-round. Kutujärvi cabin was previously used as a haymakers' resting place. It was renovated in 2007 and it is now used as an open wilderness hut.
