Staying overnight in Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park

In the National Park a hiker can stay overnight in their own tent, in an open wilderness hut, in a shared rental hut or rent a rental hut.

Camping

  • In the Special zone, Recreational zone and Cultural zone Camping is permitted only in the vicinity of wilderness huts, campfire huts and campfire sites. See campsite locations from the Hiking services-page.
  • In the Wilderness Zone camping is allowed freely.
  • The use of stove-heated tents and saunas is prohibited in the national park.
  • When camping, be considerate towards other hikers and those staying overnight. They may be tired after their day’s hike and wish to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.
  • Camping is forbidden in the restricted zones.

Huts

  • A open wilderness hut is shared accommodation where self-guided hikers can rest and spend the night free of charge.
  • In a shared rental hut, you can book a bed for one or two nights against payment.
  • A rental hut is accommodation that you can rent for your private use for one or several nights.
  • By following the hut etiquette, you take the environment, safety and other hikers into consideration. Read the instructions that can be found in the hut and the hut etiquette.
