By car

The easiest way to access the hiking trails is via the National Park’s Visitor Centres. Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park covers a wide area and there are several starting points for the trails. The Visitor Centres provide the best advice for different parts of the park. The starting points of the hiking trails are shown in the trail descriptions.

Fell Lapland Visitor Centre

  • Peuratie 15, 99400 Enontekiö, Hetta.
  • Space for approximately 10 cars. Winter maintenance.
  • You can check the starting points for the hiking trails in the Hetta area in the route descriptions.
  • Please note that hikers in Hetta must first cross Ounasjärvi lake to reach the National Park. There are boat services available for the crossing.

Pallastunturi

  • Pallastunturintie 557, 99330 Pallastunturi, Muonio.
  • Space for approximately 20 cars. Winter maintenance. In summer, there is space for approximately 50 more cars. Overnight stays in the parking area are prohibited.

Yllästunturi Visitor Centre Kellokas

  • Tunturintie 54, 95970 Äkäslompolo, Kolari.
  • The parking area has space for about 100 cars and several buses during the summer. In winter, there is room for about 50–60 cars.
  • You can check the starting points for the hiking trails in the Ylläs area in the route descriptions.

Pre-booked taxis and car transfer services

Partner companies offer taxi and car transfer services in and around the Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. This is especially important to keep in mind when hiking a longer route such as Hetta-Pallas.
