During the open seasons, you can hunt for such small game species as the willow grouse and hare in this area.
The number of hunting permits sold is limited. Muotkatunturi Wilderness Reserve belongs to two permit areas: 1608 Muotkatunturi (eraluvat.fi) and 1609 Angeli . Small game permits for 24-hour periods are sold for these areas, also allowing visitors to the area to hunt willow grouse, rabbits, small predators and waterbirds during the open seasons.
The spellbinding fells of Muotka are particularly popular among those hunting with grouse dogs. Also read the Outdoor etiquette for hunters (only in Finnish)
Those living permanently in the municipalities of Enontekiö, Inari and Utsjoki have a free hunting right on state-owned lands in their home municipality. This permit area is located in a special reindeer herding area, where the role of reindeer husbandry as a livelihood is particularly significant. Hunters should take care not to disturb reindeer herding, especially when hunting with a dog. Read the practical instructions and contact reindeer herders in the area before you go hunting.
