Staying overnight
Camping and spending the night in a hammock in the Nature Reserve are allowed in the vicinity of designated campsites. Staying overnight in the lean-to shelters is also allowed. Valtavaara day hut is intended for having a rest during a day trip.
There are several hotels and rental cottages nearby Ruka village.
Camping
- Camping is only permitted in designated camping areas and in the immediate vicinity of all campsites. See campsite locations.
- When camping, be considerate towards other hikers and those staying overnight. They may be tired after their day’s hike and wish to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.
