By bus

There are seasonal variations in bus connections to the hiking trails in Valtavaara-Pyhävaara. In winter, the Skibus to Ruka stops near the starting points of Valtavaara, Juhannuskallio and Pyhävaara trails. There is no bus connection to Konttainen.

By taxi

Transport in Valtavaara-Pyhävaara Nature Reserve is provided by local taxi services Otaxi and Rukan taksi- ja huoltopalvelu.

By air

The nearest airport is located in Kuusamo. A bus connection coordinated with flight schedules is available from Kuusamo airport to Ruka. For bus timetables and tickets, see Matkahuolto website.

By train

The nearest railway stations are located in Kemijärvi (120 km), Rovaniemi (200 km), Oulu (270 km) and Kajaani (300 km). Kemijärvi and Oulu railway stations offer the best bus services to Ruka.
