Skiing

There are a total of 200 kilometres of maintained ski tracks around Saariselkä, Kiilopää and Kakslauttanen. Some ski tracks run in Urho Kekkonen National Park, some outside the national park, forming a uniform ski track network. Most ski tracks are suitable for both classic and skating skiing styles. The ski tracks are marked in the terrain with clear trail posts, and trail markings on open fells are larger wooden crosses.

The autumn season will begin with the opening of the first snow track in Saariselkä. The next step is to open illuminated ski tracks in the area, the total length of which is approximately 25 kilometres, and which run outside the national park. When there is more snow, the ski tracks in the fell area of the national park will also be opened. The Vellinsärpimä-Taajoslaavu trail and the Rautulampi trail will be opened last in the spring as well as the Kulmakuru trail located entirely outside the national park.
