The Salamajärvi National Park is located east of the Äänekoski-Kokkola road (Highway 13) in the municipalities of Perho, Kinnula and Kivijärvi. It is 20-25 km from the municipalities to the Koirasalmi Nature Information Hut. The condition of gravel road varies, which means that special care must be taken when driving. Please note that from January 1 2024 the road to Koirasalmi will only be ploughed from the direction of Perho. It is 130 km from Kokkola, 140 km from Seinäjoki and 140 km from Jyväskylä to Salamajärvi.
