Buses (matkahuolto.fi) run between Jyväskylä and Kokkola. The nearest stop to the national park is Möttönen, Perho on main road 13 P/E (North/South buses). From the stop it is 7 km to the Humalajoki River, 15 km to Risuperä and 21 km to Koirasalmi. Visitors can also get off the bus at Perho (Perho MH) and, when coming from Jyväskylä, in Kivijärvi (Kivijärvi MH).

From Perho and Kinnula (road no. 7520), you can reach the village of Salamajärvi by[ bus (matkahuolto.fi)]https://www.matkahuolto.fi/en) on weekdays during the school year. Visitors can get off the bus at the point where the Hirvaan kierros trail crosses road no.7520 between Perho and Kinnula. The stops have no names.
