  • Finland's easternmost camp school in Petkeljärvi National Park and Möhkö village

    The operators of the Idän leirikoulu ( Eastern camp school ) organize camp school ensembles based on the local strengths of the region. Comfortable accommodations and tasty food create the basis for a successful camp school. Petkeljärvi National Park, Möhkö iron works village, Parppeinvaara rune singers' village and the many Nature Sites in the area offer a framework for a wide range of things to do and activities. Idän leiriskoulu is the camp school center of the Finnish Camp School Association

  • Petkeljärvi landscape tours by boat

    On a guided boat trip, we get to know the water bodies surrounding the national park, Lake Petkeljärvi and Lake Valkiajärvi. On the way, we might see the Osprey in its nest or fishing, the Kanadian beaver and the national park's signature bird, the Black-throated Diver/Arctic Loon, swimming, and we also go to see how the border zone of our eastern border is marked in the middle of the lake, through which in principle you could get to Russia, but we stay closely on the Finnish side. During the trip, the guide explains how, e.g. how the ice age has shaped ridge landscapes, the history of the area and special features.

  • Petkeljärvi National Park's wood-heated rental sauna

    Petkeljärvi's beach sauna has 2 separate changing rooms, one shower room, and a steam room. Sauna bookers take turns in using the changing rooms, so you can wait for your turn in your own changing room a little in advance, and correspondingly, when your soaking session is over, you can dry off and cool down in peace, even if a new group has already arrived at the sauna.
