The wide open water areas of Oulujärvi Lake, many islands and numerous sandy beaches offer paddlers lots of options for planning their trip.

If you obtain the relevant permits, you can fish both in the open lake areas and the esker ponds in Oulujärvi Hiking Area.

The hiking area offers boaters large open water areas and many landing options.

The ski trails in the Manamansalo island are maintained by the camping site entrepreneur.

Visitor's checklist

  • Everyman’s Right apply in the hiking area
  • Temporary camping in the area is allowedIn Manamansalo island, camping is only permitted at campfire sites.
  • Overnight at the cruise port is allowedYou may keep a boat in the excursion port for a maximum of 2 days.
  • Make campfires only in designated sitesAlways check the current wildfire warning before making a fire. During a wildfire warning, fires are only allowed in cooking shelters with a chimney.
  • Remember to bring a trash bagThere is no recycling point in the area. Bring a trash bag and take the trash with you.
  • Always keep pets on a leashDog waste should be cleaned away from the paths.
