Camping and spending the night in a hammock in Oulanka National Park are allowed in the vicinity of designated campsites. The open wilderness huts and lean-to shelters can be freely used by all hikers. There are also two day huts and two campfire huts in the area.

Camping is only permitted in designated camping areas and in the immediate vicinity of all campsites. See campsite locations.
When camping, be considerate towards other hikers and those staying overnight. They may be tired after their day’s hike and wish to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.

Huts

An open wilderness hut is shared accommodation where self-guided hikers can rest and spend a night or two free of charge.
Open wilderness huts can not be reserved, please make room for other hut users. In the Oulanka National Park there are seven open wilderness huts.
A rental hut is accommodation that you can rent for your private use for one or several nights.

Savilampi Open Wilderness Hut
The wilderness hut is situated on the bank of the River Oulankajoki. It is on Karhunkierros Trail 15 km south of Hautajärvi village and 13 north of Oulanka Visitor Centre. A modest open wilderness hut is available year-round. The open wilderness hut is a shared and free resting and overnight place for independent hikers. You can stay in wilderness huts for one or two nights without a reservation. Be prepared for the possibility that there may not be enough space to sleep in the hut. Facilities • Sleeping places for 10 people. • Heating with a stove. A gas cooker. • No drinking water point. Water from natural sources must be purified before drinking. • No waste management. Take your own waste out of the area. • Bring your own cooking utensils. • Pets are allowed in the hut only with the consent of other users.
Jussinkämppä Open Wilderness Hut
This wilderness hut was built by the Kuusamo tourism board and is situated on the shore of Lake Kulmakkojärvi on Karhunkierros Hiking Trail. It is about 15 km from the visitor centre and 5 km from the River Kitkajoki. A modest open wilderness hut is available year-round. The open wilderness hut is a shared and free resting and overnight place for independent hikers. You can stay in wilderness huts for one or two nights without a reservation. Be prepared for the possibility that there may not be enough space to sleep in the hut. Facilities • Sleeping places for 20 people. There is also a campfire shelter on the grounds, in which sleeps 5 persons. • Heating with a stove. A gas cooker. • No drinking water point. Water from natural sources must be purified before drinking. • No waste management. Take your own waste out of the area. • Bring your own cooking utensils. • Pets are allowed in the hut only with the consent of other users.
Siilastupa Open Wilderness Hut
A Finnish general by the name of Siilasvuo had this wilderness hut built. The hut is situated on the bank of the River Kitkajoki 3,5 km from the village of Juuma and is on both Karhunkierros Trail and Pieni Karhunkierros Trail. A modest open wilderness hut is available year-round. The open wilderness hut is a shared and free resting and overnight place for independent hikers. You can stay in wilderness huts for one or two nights without a reservation. Be prepared for the possibility that there may not be enough space to sleep in the hut. Facilities - Sleeping places for 12 people. - Heating with a stove. Gas cooker. - Stretcher and ice chisel. - No drinking water point. Water from natural sources must be purified before drinking. - No waste management. Ristikallio Open Wilderness Hut
The wilderness hut built for tourism in the late 1960s is situated in the northern portion of Oulanka National Park on the bank of the River Aventojoki. The hut is on Karhunkierros Trail 5 km from the Ristikallio starting point. A modest open wilderness hut is available year-round. The open wilderness hut is a shared and free resting and overnight place for independent hikers. You can stay in wilderness huts for one or two nights without a reservation. Be prepared for the possibility that there may not be enough space to sleep in the hut. Facilities • Sleeping places for 10 people. • Heating with a stove. • No drinking water point. Taivalköngäs Open Wilderness Hut
This two floored wilderness hut was built at the beginning of the 1900s. It is situated on the bank of the River Oulankajoki on Karhunkierros Trail, 9 km north of Oulanka Visitor Centre. A modest open wilderness hut is available year-round. The open wilderness hut is a shared and free resting and overnight place for independent hikers. You can stay in wilderness huts for one or two nights without a reservation. Be prepared for the possibility that there may not be enough space to sleep in the hut. Kerojärvi Open Wilderness Hut
Hut is in the Northern area of the Oulanka National Park on the lake Kerojärvi and in the middle of the Keroharjun kuiskaus hiking trail. Hut is built in 1950 century. A modest open wilderness hut is available year-round. The open wilderness hut also has a sauna. In winter, the water must be drained from the stove once it has cooled down, otherwise the water tank will freeze in the cold. Heating the stove can be challenging in freezing temperatures, and the wood shed empties quickly, so consider whether heating the sauna is necessary. Aitaniitty Rental Hut
A sheltered location by the canoe route on the lower course of the River Oulankajoki. Please note that the hut is available for rent only to paddlers! The hut is accessible only by canoe: below Kiutaköngäs Rapids, paddle downstream for 16 km. Not accessible by car or walking. The rental season is 1.6. - 31.8. A rental hut is an accommodation that can be rented entirely for your group's use for one or several nights. Facilities: - Sleeping places for 4 people, 1 room 20 m2. - Heating with a stove - A gas cooker, cooking utensils, mattresses. - There is a sauna, a campfire site and a dry toilet at the yard. - No drinking water point.
