Staying overnight

Camping and spending the night in a hammock in Oulanka National Park are allowed in the vicinity of designated campsites. The open wilderness huts and lean-to shelters can be freely used by all hikers. There are also two day huts and two campfire huts in the area.

Camping grounds and accommodation services offered by Metsähallitus’ partners are available nearby.

Camping and lean-to shelters

  • Camping is only permitted in designated camping areas and in the immediate vicinity of all campsites. See campsite locations.
  • When camping, be considerate towards other hikers and those staying overnight. They may be tired after their day’s hike and wish to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.

Huts

  • An open wilderness hut is shared accommodation where self-guided hikers can rest and spend a night or two free of charge.
  • Open wilderness huts can not be reserved, please make room for other hut users. In the Oulanka National Park there are seven open wilderness huts.
  • A rental hut is accommodation that you can rent for your private use for one or several nights.
