Bird watching
The five birdwatching towers in Liminka Bay make observing birds easy.
- Every year, around 200 bird species are spotted in the protected area, and approximately 160 of these species nest here.
- The bird season begins in mid-April with the spring migration. The final moments of the autumn migration can be observed in November.
- There are five bird-watching towers in the area - the towers of Virkkula and River Temmesjoki mouth in Liminka, Sannanlahti and Puhkiavanperä towers in Lumijoki, and Papinkari tower in Oulunsalo. Explore the birdwatching towers here.
- The spring and autumn winds are chilly, and a brisk westerly wind causes the water level to rise. Warm clothing and boots are a good choice, in addition to binoculars and a telescope.
