The five birdwatching towers in Liminka Bay make observing birds easy.

Liminka Bay is a great day trip destination for families with young children and seasoned birdwatchers alike.

Ski tracks lead from the Visitor Centre to the village of Liminka. In good ice winters, a ski track across the sea offers wider view of the bay area.

There are marked mountain bike trails with different lenghts in the areas of Liminka and Lumijoki municipalities.

Nature of Liminka Bay

Liminka Bay is an ever-changing, large sea bay shaped by land uplift with reed patches in its shallow coastal waters. During the migration period, thousands of birds stop at Liminka Bay to rest.

  • There are movement restrictions in the areaLanding on and accessing the islands of Kotakari and Kammonkari are prohibited between 1 May and 31 July.
