For more than six months a year, Lemmenjoki is the kingdom of tour skiers. The river valleys, fells and large mires under a thick blanket of snow offer diverse and subtly varied skiing terrain. Even a day-trip to the river valley or fells is enough to get a glimpse of the wintry nature of Lemmenjoki, but on ski tour of several days or weeks you can enjoy the National Park at its best. There is no maintained ski track network in the National Park, but skiers can take advantage of a maintenance track signposted with snowplough markers leading from Njurkulahti to Morgamoja. Joenkielinen can be reached along a snowmobile track used by local tourism entrepreneurs, which is also perfect for skiing or snowshoeing. If you have good navigation and winter hiking skills, you can enjoy the freedom of untouched snow throughout the National Park.
