This easy trail is marked with blue cone symbols. Parts of the trail are also accessible with baby prams. Vatikuru Nature Trail has low information boards that describe the nature and history of the area. The trail is hardened and easy to walk.
The trail starts at the signpost on the edge of the parking area after Pallastunturi's Pikkukuru bridge. Follow the green Vatikurunpolku signpost for approximately 300 metres and cross the Vatikuru Nature Trail bridge. The bridge is a wooden structure and has a handrail on the left side.
The trail climbs gently upwards for approximately 600 metres. From the crossing, continue along the trail on the left and past the monuments at the old hotel.
The trail soon arrives at an old reindeer herder’s hut. From the crossing, continue along the trail that passes to the left of the reindeer herder’s hut. The total distance travelled to the crossing is approximately 1 km.
From the reindeer herder's hut, the trail continues for approximately 500 metres and connects to the wide, hardened Hetta-Pallas and Taivaskero trail. Follow the Vatikurunpolku signpost.
Continue about 400 metres back to the old reindeer herder’s hut and from there approximately 100 metres towards the monument. Turn left at the crossing, and continue straight across the intersecting trail that you come to after 60 metres. Continue for approximately 800 metres and turn at the crossing to follow the green Vatikurunpolku signpost. You will soon arrive back at the first signpost on the trail. The total distance travelled is 2.9 km.
