The Syvyydenkierros Trail runs along the undulating eskers of Rokuanvaara, amid the silvery beds of lichen. Along the trail, you will see a landscape shaped by the Ice Age and Syvyydenkaivo, which is Finland’s deepest kettle hole in its natural state.

Starting from the Pookivaara parking area, the Syvyydenkierros Trail follows a wide track for about 0.5 km to the junction, where you can deviate from the route to Pookivaara Hill. Pookivaara has a day-use hut, a wilderness hut, a rental hut and a dry toilet. This section before the junction includes some steep ascents and descents.
At the junction, the trail turns sharply west and later curves to the north. The western section up to Syvyydenkaivo is 1.2 km long. Syvyydenkaivo is one of Rokua National Park’s main attractions, featuring long wooden stairs that ascend northward.
After Syvyydenkaivo, the trail continues about 0.7 km north. Then it diverges from Keisarinkierros towards the east. The next leg towards the Rokua Ski Stadium is approximately 2 km through rolling, bright pine forest, and includes two sets of wooden stairs on the eastern slope of Vauluvaara.
From Rokua Ski Stadium to the Pookivaara parking area, the trail runs for 1.5 km through an easy-to-navigate area of reforesting clearings and open lichen heaths.
This is followed by a final stretch of 0.2 km along a forest road before the Pookivaara parking area.
