As the trail reaches Hautjärvi lake, the barren pine woods of the esker quickly change into a thick, lush grove. The trail runs through controlled burn zones and winds its way to the peaks of the esker and outstanding scenic vistas.

The trail starts at the lean-to shelter on Syrjänalunen lake and starts with a steep climb to the esker. The esker section is marked with Ilvesreitti signs (lynx paw).
In the final section the trail crosses a large, crystal-clear spring.
