Located on the shore of Pallasjärvi Lake, Punainenhiekka provides a spectacular view of the fell landscape over the magnificent Pallasjärvi Lake. Admire the scenery and enjoy a picnic at the campfire site. The trail is classified as an accessible route. We recommend an assistant when using the trail. There is an accessible day-use hut and an accessible campfire site on the shore of Punainenhiekka. The wood shed and toilets are not accessible. Camping is only permitted in the marked camping area (6 places for tents), and camping on the sand or the beach is prohibited. Campfires are only permitted at designated campfire sites. The camping area is not accessible.

Punainenhiekka accessible day-use hut has limited parking for cars on the side of the gravel road (max. 10 cars with angle parking). There is no actual parking area and no designated parking spaces for people with reduced mobility. Instead, the road is wider at the starting point of the trail.
Follow the brown Punainenhiekka signpost from the gravel road. The trail beginning at the gravel road has a 12% longitudinal slope over a distance of 3 metres. There are loose stones on the trail over the next 15 metres. This is followed by a hard rock dust trail with loose stones at the edges.
The flat, hardened route through a pine forest has a descent of approximately 7 metres over a distance of 280 metres. There are a few protruding rocks and roots on the trail. The most challenging sections of the trail are two steeper points, where the longitudinal slope is 12% over a distance of approximately 3 metres.
Beautiful fell landscape is visible from Punainenhiekka on the shore of Pallasjärvi Lake. The campfire site is beside the trail as you arrive at the shore. There is a 1-metre wide passageway to the campfire site. The campfire site is surrounded by fixed benches and has a hard rock dust surface. The wood shed is not accessible.
Punainenhiekka day-use hut is located on the shore of Pallasjärvi Lake. The ramp into the hut is built from transverse boards. The ramp is 95 cm wide and it has no handrail. The ramps have a longitudinal slope of 11%. A ramp leads to the terrace of the hut and from the terrace into the hut. The clear width of the hut door is 80 cm. The door has a 6-cm high threshold, with small ramps on both sides to make it easier to cross the threshold. The hut has a stove, wood box, table and benches that can be moved. A person using a wheeled assistive device can sit at the table. Fixed benches line two walls of the hut.
There is a non-accessible toilet is located about 30 metres from the hut. An accessible dry toilet was completed in autumn 2020. There is no accessible passage to the shore, and the sand on the shore is soft.
