The Palolampi - Urpovaara route passes through the Hiidenportti gorge to the Porttilampi lean-to and from there east to the Urpovaara parking area. The route goes through the old spruce forests on the slopes of Urpovaara. Mountain biking is not prohibited, but due to the extremely rocky terrain, we do not recommend it. Especially near the Hiidenportti gorge, the route is quite demanding due to the rugged terrain. There are also some fairly steep ascents and descents along the route.

The initial part of the Palolampi-Urpovaara route is the same as the Hiidenkierros. From the Palolampi information point, a signposted path leads to the Hiidenportti gorge. The distance to the gorge is 1.3 kilometers, and it is traversed along a sometimes challenging trail. The path is rocky and rooty, with some elevation changes.
The Hiidenkierros gradually ascends to the top of the gorge. The route passes through the bottom of the gorge, from where it climbs up steel stairs to the other side. The steel stairs have rubber covers for dogs.
From the gorge, the route continues along the approximately one-kilometer-long gorge to the Porttilampi lean-to, which offers an excellent spot for a snack break.
From the Porttilampi lean-to, the route continues towards Urpovaara. The route goes through the old spruce forests on the slopes of Urpovaara. The distance from Hiidenportti to Urpovaara is approximately 4.3 km.
