On the trail, you will experience the rocky landscape of Palkaskero Fell and at the same time, you can admire the five-star views. From Palkaskero Fell, a magnificent panorama landscape opens up to Pallasjärvi Lake, the Levitunturi and Lommol- and Sammaltunturi Fells. In the far south of the national park, Ylläs looms in the distance. In early summer, tiny fell flowers, such as the pincushion plant (Diapensia lapponica) and alpine azalea (Kalmia procumbens), bloom along the Palkaskeron kierros Trail. The trail is moderate in terms of difficulty, and it climbs to the fell summit in terrain that is rocky in places. Cycling is prohibited on this trail. Direct access from the Pallastunturi parking area to the fell is forbidden to prevent erosion and protect the distant landscape. Stay on the marked trail and do not wander off it.

The trail around Palkaskero Fell starts at Pallastunturi parking area. Follow the green signpost for Palkaskeron kierros Trail. The signposts are located near the right end of the hotel building. The first 0.5 km of the trail runs along a hardened route. At the crossing, the trail turns and follows the Palkaskero signpost.
The trail climbs gently for 0.5 km and comes to a reindeer round-up corral. The total distance travelled is 1.2 km. Cycling is prohibited from this point onwards. Follow the green Palkaskeron kierros Trail signpost.
The trail climbs gently along a natural trail to the top of Palkaskero Fell. As you get closer to the top, the trail becomes rockier. From the summit, there is a view over the fells and hills to the south and north, with the beautiful Pallasjärvi Lake shimmering below.
After the summit, the trail descends through a boulder field for 0.5 km, after which it becomes less rocky. The trail gradually descends 2 km along the edge of the fell and curves sharply before arriving at a crossing. Follow the brown Pallastunturi Visitor Centre signpost from the crossing. The terrain here becomes a hardened path and easy to walk along. The trail takes you along Orava Avenue (Squirrel Avenue) back to the parking area.
