Kalkinpolttaja Trail circles in the field and forest landscape in the traditional limestone mining and agricultural area within the vicinity of the village of Sotunki, Vantaa. In addition to traditional agricultural businesses, lime has also been mined and burned in the area, which is where the name of the route comes from. Hikers on this trail will see impressive spruce forests, steep hills equipped with steps, open cultural landscapes and rocky outcrops with great boulders. The features of the trail include challenging forest paths, wide roads and Kalkkiruukki campsite with a campfire site and lean-to shelter. Overnight camping is also permitted at the campsite.

Starting point: Flatberget / Tasakallio: Tasakalliontie 1, 01200 Vantaa. It is also possible to start from Kalkkiuunintie 8 parking area or Kalkkiuunintie 12 parking area.
From Tasakalliontie parking area, you start by following a connecting trail: first along Nybyggetintie road and then Kuusenkorvenkuja, from which you turn off onto a forest path.
The trail soon starts climbing to the rocky hill of Högberget, which offers great views over Sotunki countryside, and joins the start of Kalkinpolttajanpolku trail.
Starting from Högberget, you can walk the circular trail either clockwise or counterclockwise. The trail is marked with white and green markings.
The trail continues with rather steep climbs and descents, dives into a streamside forest at times, climbs into a more open mixed forest and offers opportunities to admire the rural landscape and a limestone quarry, which is partly fenced off.
At times the trail follows a wide road. Kalkkiruukki campsite, which is over halfway when walking clockwise, is ideal for having a snack and taking a rest. There is a campfire site, lean-to shelter, hut for lying down, dry toilet and camping area.
In some places, there are a wide and easy paths, but there are also a lot of rhizomes and stony paths. Some of the climbs are very steep. There are bridges and stairs in many places.
At the end of Kalkinpolttajanpolku trail, you return along the connecting trail, following the same path and roads as at the beginning.
Endpoint: Flatberget / Tasakallio: Tasakalliontie 1, 01200 Vantaa. You can also end the trek at the parking areas of Kalkkiuunintie 8 or Kalkkiuunintie 12.
