The Värikallio Wilderness Trail starts from the Lihapyörre parking area. There is a dry toilet at the Lihapyörre parking area, near the starting point. The Lihapyörre lean-to shelter is also near the parking area.
A couple of kilometres after the start of the trail, a wilderness trail to Lake Julma-Ölkky branches off from the trail.
After the junction, the trail continues to the shore of Lake Somerjärvi, where the Värikallio cooking shelter is located. A trail to the rock paintings and the Värikallio steel viewing platform starts by the cooking shelter.
The trail is usually maintained from the beginning of January to the end of April. The wilderness trail is groomed approximately once a week with a snowmobile and does not have ski tracks. There are some uphill and downhill sections on the trail.
