By car to the national park
Urho Kekkonen National Park is located east of the Sodankylä-Ivalo road (road number 4/E75). The distance to the national park is 240 km from Rovaniemi, 30-50 km from Ivalo, and 110 km from Savukoski.
- Urho Kekkonen National Park has several starting points with parking areas. The parking areas are listed below.
- There are three public parking areas in Saariselkä. Saariselkä parking area (Lutontie 10-12, Saariselkä (Inari), space for 20 cars, winter maintenance). Other public parking areas are located at Saariselkä Chapel and next to Laanila Piispankivi, while others are for business customers.
- Please note that some roads are forest roads and are not maintained in winter. For more information, contact Urho Kekkonen National Park customer service or check the national park's current information.

Raja-Jooseppi parkkipaikka
Parking
Space for 14 cars. There is no winter maintenance on the parking area and the forest road leading to it. In winter, you can leave your car at the public, maintained parking area along Rajajoosepintie (northwest of Joosepinvaara, at the intersection of the forest road).
Kemihaaran pysäköintialue

Korvatunturintie 1062, Savukoski. Space for 30 cars. Winter maintenance on Kemihaarantie and the parking area.
Kiilopää pysäköintialue

Kiilopääntie 620, 99830 Saariselkä. The Kiilopää parking area is divided into two sections. The southern end of the parking area is a free parking area managed by Metsähallitus, while the northern end is reserved for the customers of Suomen Latu Kiilopää. Space for 45 cars. Winter maintenance.
Aittajärvi parkkipaikka

Directions to the parking area: From the Saariselkä-Ivalo road (road number 4/E75), turn onto the Kuutua forest road on the east side. Drive along the forest road for about 35 km. There are signs at a couple of intersections along the road that direct you to turn right towards Aittajärvi. There is no winter maintenance on the parking area or the Kuutua road leading to it. Space for about 30 cars.
Tankavaara pysäköintialue

Tankavaarantie 11 B, 99695 Tankavaara (Sodankylä). Space for about 30 cars. During winter maintenance, the parking area is smaller.
Haukijärvenoja parkkipaikka
Parking
Directions: About 93 km from the Savukoski village center. Drive along Tulppiontie (road number 9671) for 80 km and turn left onto Rannisvaarantie from Tulppio. Space for 10 cars. There is no winter maintenance on the parking area or the Rannisvaarantie leading to it.
