
Fishing
- If you want to fish, you need to pay a fisheries management fee (eraluvat.fi) and buy a recreational fishing permit (category 7525). Fishing permits are available from Metsähallitus' online shop (eraluvat.fi).
- Fishers need to check the restrictions on fishing sites at kalastusrajoitus.fi (In Finnish).
Peaceful Ruunaa Rapids are a popular place for relaxation and fishing.
- During the hot days in the middle of the summer, the quiet waters may be the best fishing spots. At the end of the summer, you can see the fish jumping out of the water on top of the rapids.
- Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and Lake Trout (Salmo trutta m. lacustris L.) which are over the minimum length requirement for fishing have been regularly planted in the Hiking Area.
- Good spots for fishermen with boats can be found upstream from the Neitikoski, Siikakoski and Murrookoski rapids. Boats can be hired from local entrepreneurs.
- Haapavitja and Paasikoski rapids are especially well suited for fly fishing. Those who are into lure fishing will find good fishing spots at any of the rapids. Kattilakoski Rapids, which can be hired for private use, are renowned for being excellent for fishing.
