Overnight Stays in Lemmenjoki National Park

In Lemmenjoki National Park, you can stay overnight in a hut, lean-to shelter, or your own tent. Some huts are located in the Lemmenjoki Valley, while others are scattered throughout the vast national park.

Even if you plan to rely on huts, you should always carry your own tent for unexpected situations. Camping and overnight stays are guided by the zoning system, which can be viewed on the map. Check restrictions in the park's rules.

In Njurgulahti, cabin accommodations and campsites are available through local tourism businesses.

Camping

  • In the recreational zone, camping is freely allowed except along the Lemmenjoki River, where camping is only permitted at designated tent areas near rest spots. In the remote zones, camping is allowed anywhere. In the Ravadasköngäs restricted zone, camping is prohibited. Check the camp sites
  • When camping, be considerate towards other hikers and those staying overnight. They may be tired after their day’s hike and wish to enjoy the peace and quiet of nature.

Open wilderness and rental huts

  • An open wilderness hut is shared accommodation where self-guided hikers can rest and spend the night free of charge.
  • A rental hut is accommodation that you can rent for your private use for one or several nights.
  • Day-use huts are not intended for overnight stays.
  • By following the hut etiquette, you take the environment, safety and other hikers into consideration. Read the instructions and hut etiquette that can be found in the hut.
