By train (vr.fi), the closest stations to Koli National Park are Joensuu (via Kolintie, 74 km), Lieksa (85 km), or Kajaani (182 km).

The nearest bus stop is on Highway 6 in Ahmovaara (Kolinportti). From the stop, it is 9 km to Koli National Park. Buses (matkahuolto.fi) run to Ahmovaara from Joensuu and Kajaani year-round. The journey from Ahmovaara to Koli National Park can be made on foot, by bike, or by taxi (kolintaksi.fi). On weekdays, you can also take a pre-ordered connecting bus from Ahmovaara to Koli village (koli.fi).

Tip: When searching for Matkahuolto bus schedules (liput.matkahuolto.fi), select Ahmovaara (Juuka) as the stop. This way, you will see both regular and express buses stopping at Kolinportti.

Tip 2: From Monday to Friday, you can take a bus from Joensuu and Nurmes to Ahmovaara. From Ahmovaara, there is a connecting bus to Koli village (koli.fi).

Tip 3: During the skiing season, on Saturdays and Sundays, you can take the Ski & Spa bus from Joensuu to Koli (koliski.fi). The trip must be booked in advance the day before.
