The routes can be started from the Siikakoski parking area. The route ends at the starting point.
When walking counterclockwise, it is about 800 meters to the Siikakoski suspension bridge. From the bridge, there are magnificent views of the Siikakoski Rapids on the Lieksanjoki, which is long and gentle. The route continues along the river, and you can either walk right by the river along the fishing path or follow the main route a bit further from the river. At the campfire site by the logging dam, you can choose whether to take the longer 5 km route via Murrookoski or the shorter 3 km route. The shorter route turns east, while the longer route continues along the Siikakoski shore.
The route follows the Lieksanjoki River upstream for 5 km to the Murrookoski lean-to shelter and then to the Niskalahti campfire site, before turning into a more forested section. In addition to forest terrain, there are open bogs to cross via boardwalks. The route passes by the western caravan area of Murrookoski and soon joins the shorter 3 km Siikakoski loop. After less than half a kilometer, you reach the starting point of the route, the Siikakoski parking area, where the route ends.
