A drive of just over half an hour from Syöte to the Rytivaara trail is well worth it! The route is ideal for a day trip, both for a grade schooler with a passion for nature and for senior citizens wanting to relive the wanderings of their younger days. Along the trail, you'll hike on duckboards, see the wide-open expanses of marshes, and experience the quiet of ancient forests. The Rytivaara crown tenant farm outdoor museum is an interesting stop along the way. Try drawing water from the old well and cook your picnic food in the yard of the tenant farm cottage.
