Please note that this trail is still missing signposts! The traveler must use a topographic map for navigation. Explore the vast nature of Seitseminen National Park on an overnight hike, or spend a weekend on the Riiuureitti trail! Riiuureitti circles the entire park. Along the trail, you'll experience Seitseminen's old-growth forests, cultural landscapes, and various types of wetlands. The trail also passes through the restoration-burned pine forests of Kivisenkangas. The trail includes some elevation changes, roots, and rocky sections. The wetland sections have duckboards, but especially in spring and autumn, the trail may have wet spots. Due to its length, the trail is demanding. Riiuureitti begins from the yard of the nature center and heads south, following Seitsemisharju. The trail winds through coniferous forests and crosses small wetlands on duckboards.
After seven kilometers, you reach the first campfire site at Koverolampi, where you can also camp.
From Koverolampi, the trail continues 200 meters to the Kovero parking area, where there is a dry toilet and a well. Across the road is the Kovero Heritage Farm, and the trail continues through its grounds back into the forest towards the old-growth forest of Multiharju.
In Multiharju, the trail continues as a gravel path that is easy to walk, until it turns onto a narrower forest path. The trail winds through the shaded riverside forests of the Seitsemisjoki River towards the Jokiristi campfire site and camping area. The distance from Koverolampi's camping area to Jokiristi is about five kilometers.
From Jokiristi, the trail continues to the old watermill at Liesijoki. Soon, you'll reach a trail junction, where the trail continues north along an old forest road. After a kilometer, you can take a detour along the Pirkan Taival trail to the Liesijärvi lean-to shelter and camping area. The detour is 1.5 kilometers each way.
Riiuureitti continues along the forest road for about another kilometer before turning onto a forest path. Here begins a new section of the path, which may not be as clearly visible in the terrain as other trails in Seitseminen.
The trail continues through mossy coniferous forests until the wetlands begin, and with them, the duckboards. Soon, you will find yourself on a gravel road running through the wetlands. Follow it north for a short distance, and then the trail heads back into the forest.
The trail passes through the burned forest area of Kivisenkangas to the edge of Kivineva, and from there, it alternates between small wetlands and forested islets.
Finally, the trail becomes more root-covered in the shady forest of Pakkulakangas. Towards the end, the trail follows the edge of Ahvenlampi.
The trail returns to the Kulomäki parking area on the other side of the road. In addition, the yard of the nature center features a children's playground, a cooking shelter, dry toilets, a water point, and a recycling point.
