On the Pohjantikka Trail, you will walk in the footsteps of Finnish ancestors. The trail follows the shoreline of Lake Liesjärvi to Pitkäkärki, which was settled by humans as early as the Stone Age. During the Stone Age, people lived, hunted and gathered their food here in the Liesjärvi area, leaving behind the objects they used. Among other artefacts, gouges and quartz flake-tools have been found at the site. Pitkäkärki is a protected area under the Antiquities Act.

Korteniemi parking area. Space for approximately 30 cars. During winter maintenance, the parking area is smaller. Google Maps and other navigators often give incorrect driving instructions, guiding drivers from main road 2 to Hennontie.
The trail markings on the Pohjantikka Trail begin behind the storehouse and magazine located in the Korteniemi Heritage Farm yard, initially following the Häme Lynx Trail for about 800 metres. Trail marking: White diamonds with a blue mark inside.
Then, the trail diverges from the Häme Lynx Trail and follows the shoreline of Lake Liesjärvi to Pitkäkärki, where there is a small meadow and barns. Pitkäkärki is also a Stone Age settlement protected by the Antiquities Act.
There are old-growth forests along the trail and a lot of important coarse woody debris. Coarse woody debris is home to valuable species in an old-growth forest. There is a connection to a trail crossing the park from Korteniemi to Kyynäränharju.
