The trail starts at the Pielpavuono Fjord, which can be reached by a Lake Inarijärvi cruise ship or a canoe in the summer. The cruise ship will only stop in the Pielpavuono Fjord upon request, weather permitting. The trail passes through a beautiful and rocky forest. The well-marked, rocky trail criss-crossed by roots offers great views over forest lakes. The height differences on the trail are minor. The trail leads to the Pielpajärvi Wilderness Church, from where you return to Inari along the Pielpajärvi Wilderness Church Trail. The distance to Inari from the Pielpavuono Fjord via the church is 9 kilometres.

The first section follows the shore of the Pielpavuono Fjord. The wettest parts at the bottom of the Pielpavuono Fjord are gravelled. The trail runs through an old-growth pine forest where large roots and stones make it difficult to travel.
After a kilometre, you will reach a wet strip of land between Lake Pikku Pielpajärvi and Lake Äimäjärvi, where you can catch a glimpse of forest lakes.The journey continues along a beautiful old-growth pine forest with centuries-old trees.
You will arrive to the church plot from southeast. In the summer, the church plot is maintained by fenced sheep. You can reach the church through two gates. From Lake Pielpajärvi, you will return to Inari along the Church Trail.
