Katikankierros trail leads visitors to a mystical gorge, which has been eroded by running water and shaded by spruce forests. The steep slopes of the streams and the verdant spruce forests around them set the mood for this fairy-tale forest. The trail follows along the banks of streams, occasionally climbing up to high sandy ridges. The trail goes through dry heath terrain, with duckboards to take visitors across a few wet areas. There are variations in elevation and steep slopes along the trail. Metal stairs have been installed on slopes. Please note that the trail is dangerously slippery in winter. We do not recommend Katikankanjoni as a winter hiking destination. The trail is not maintained during the winter.
