Starting pointKarkali Parking Area
The trail starts from the parking area and goes around the Karkalinniemi peninsula. The trail consists of consecutive loops of varying lengths: ½, 1, 2 or 6 km.
There is a dry toilet and a table and benches in the parking area. The ruins of the Lepola croft can be found along the trail, near the parking area.
The only landing and swimming point in the area is located along the two longest loops.
Along the longest loop are the ruins of the Kukinhuone croft, and the supporting stones of archbishop Johansson’s pavilion can be found on top of a hill near the tip of the peninsula. There is a table and benches near the stones. The view from the hill toward the Karjalohja Church has already overgrown.
Hanski-Hakki Thematic Trail
The approximately two kilometres long Hanski-Hakki Thematic Trail along the trail starting from the Karkali Strict Nature Reserve parking area tells the story of herb-rich nature in the Karkalinniemi peninsula and its diversity. The trail consists of ten information boards that allow hikers to learn more about the diverse tree species in the area, meadow flowers, the friends of great aspens and birds.
It takes approximately 1 to 2 hours to go around the easy and relatively flat thematic trail.
