On the demanding accessible thematic trail running through the Punkaharju Research Park, the forest nature and its sounds and scents are both an enchanting and relaxing experience. The trail is durable, and there are benches for resting and a campsite along the way. The trail is easy to walk and thus suitable for both fit and less active visitors. If you are looking for a longer journey, you can combine the Karjalankallion huilaus Trail with the nearby Hakin helpompi Trail. It should be noted that cycling and driving are allowed on the road. The speed limit on the road is 30 km/h.

The starting point of the trail is the Karjalankallio parking area, Puistometsäntie 279, Savonlinna.
The trail is easy to hike and suitable for both fit and less active visitors.
The first section of the trail leads approximately 150 metres towards the Karjalankallio campsite. From the junction, the trail continues to the right. When at the junction, you can also make a side trip to the nearby Karjalankallio lean-to shelter by turning left instead of right.
When you reach the shore of Lake Puruvesi, there is a campsite with an accessible picnic table by the trail.
From the shore, the trail continues uphill in a forest for another 200 metres.
The final section of the trail follows the Puistometsäntie Road for approximately 400 metres.
From the Puistometsäntie Road, you can make a side trip of about 70 metres to an old-growth forest.

The Karjalankallio campsite near the starting point of the trail has a covered lean-to shelter with a campfire site, a woodshed and a dry toilet.
