On the Juutuan polku Trail, you can admire beautiful riverside landscapes, centuries-old pine trees in the old-growth forest and the tumbles of the Jäniskoski Rapids, which will not freeze over even in the winter. There are boards along the trail with stories about travellers, events and fishing in Juutua. In addition to Finnish and English, the texts are available in Inari Sámi. Inari artist Merja Aletta Ranttila illustrated the story boards. The trail is suitable for all ages, as it is mostly wide and gravelled, and partly runs along a paved road. The demanding Juutua Accessible Trail is part of the Juutuan polku Trail.

The Juutuan polku Trail starts from the parking area by the Kittiläntie Road (no. 955). The distance to the parking area is approximately 2.5 kilometres from the village of Inari. The trail is marked with square signs attached to orange wooden posts. The signs read “Juutuan polku.” You can also join the trail at the Kortelammentie parking area or the Sámi Museum and Northern Lapland Nature Centre Siida.
When leaving the parking area, the trail descends towards the Juutuanjoki River, and within 250 metres, the trail branches left towards the Jäniskoski Rapids and right towards the Akseli lean-to shelter. Here you can decide in which direction you want to travel the trail.
If you go to the left, you will arrive at the Jäniskoski Rapids suspension bridge over the Juutuanjoki River after 200 metres. The Jäniskoski campsite and its lean-to shelter are located on the northern shore of the river.
From the Jäniskoski campsite, the trail continues along the northern side of the Juutuanjoki River in the pine forest, along the river. Soon after leaving the campsite, you will go through a gate in a reindeer fence between reindeer herding cooperatives. Please close the gate after you.
The trail from the Kortelampi parking area joins the Juutuan polku Trail two hundred metres after the gate.
The trail continues amongst centuries-old pine trees for one and a half kilometres until it reaches the Koskelantie Road.
Follow the Koskelantie Road for 200 metres until you reach a T-crossing.
Turn right at the junction and follow the road for a kilometre until you reach Highway 4 (E75).
Cross the road at the Sámi Museum and Northern Lapland Nature Centre Siida and move on to the pedestrian and cycle path. Go 500 metres to the intersection of the Kittiläntie Road (955) and turn right.
Follow the trail markings on the pedestrian and cycle path for 700 metres.
At the Inarin koulu School, turn left up a hill leading to the forest. Follow the trail for 1.5 kilometres, until you reach the Akseli lean-to shelter.
From the Akseli lean-to shelter, the junction of the Jäniskoski Rapids and the parking area by the Kittiläntie Road is 400 metres away. This is the place where you chose in which the direction you wanted to travel the trail.
The distance from the junction to the Kittiläntie parking area is 300 metres.
