At the Rye Bread Course, you will get a taste of baking rye bread at the Wanha Vartiamäki Farm in Joutsa very close to the Leivonmäki National Park. Join the volunteer event to magically transform dough into authentic, traditionally baked sourdough rye bread!
You will receive hands-on guidance and instructions in the art of baking. During the course, you'll learn about Finland's rich bread-making tradition and the history of rye bread. This warm-hearted volunteer event is all about working together and sharing experiences. Of course, the day includes for bakers a coffee/tea with baked goods while working and sharing stories.. The spice of the day comes from the hostess's 30 years of experience, combined with the volunteers' experiments.
You will also take home the bread you made yourself, which you can share with your family, along with a sourdough starter to begin baking at home.
How to join the volunteer event? The Rye Bread Course can be booked for a minimum of four people. Contact Marianne at 0407084441 or email kosonen.marianne@gmail.com. You can also check possible upcoming events on the website: https://wanhavartiamaki.fi/kurssit/ruisleipa/.
