Kvarken Archipelago is the only natural heritage site in Finland included in the international UNESCO World Heritage List. Land uplift is shaping the maritime archipelago faster than anywhere else in the world, forcing nature to adapt to continuous change. The mosaic-like archipelago shaped by the Ice Age offers visitors pleasures for every season. The Swedish High Coast and Kvarken Archipelago in Finland form a joint World Heritage Site; the World Heritage Site High Coast/Kvarken Archipelago.

  • An archipelago with stones and boulders, moraine ridges, fladas and glo lakes as well as forests of the land uplift coast
  • Hiking trails for day trips and overnight excursions
  • Paddling in a unique labyrinthine archipelago
  • Information and hiking advice from World Heritage Gateway
  • Several campfire sites
  • Accessible trails and service structures
