The road to the Saukkovaara parking area is plowed throughout the winter season. The 5-kilometer Koronjää day trail in Korouoma becomes trampled down in the winter months, making it accessible even without snowshoes, making the trail passable without snowshoes. The trail have slippery sections, however, where the spikes in snowshoes or ice grips are helpful in keeping your balance. You may also need snowshoes in early winter or after a heavy snowfall.
