Current Hiking Conditions in Kevo Strict Nature Reserve

  • In the Kevo Canyon area, skiing is allowed from October 16th to March 31st.
  • In the fell area, skiing is allowed from October 16th to April 30th. You can see the zone boundaries on the main page of the site.
  • In the fell area of the nature reserve, there is about 50 cm of snow, with more in some places.

Reduction of Camping Areas

In Kevo Strict Nature Reserve, camping is only allowed at the rest sites built for this purpose and in the hut yards, even in winter. Some camping areas have been closed due to low usage and to concentrate maintenance efforts. These areas may still appear on printed maps. Please do not camp at the following rest sites along the Kevo route:

  • Tapiola Goahti, also known as Gaskkamuš Njaggaljávri (1 km north of Njaggaleapme camping area)
  • Gamajotnjálmmeluoppal (3 km north of Roajášjávri camping area)
  • Gaskkamuš Suohpášája (1.5 km north of Suohpášája camping area)
  • Geavvogeašláttu (3 km north of Ruktajávri camping area)
