
Hiking and outdoor recreation
Hämeenkangas has two marked circle trails in the Jämi area, and the Pirkan ura Trail passes through the area. The entire Hämeenkangas area has dozens of kilometres of trails, with numerous rest area along the way. In some places, the network of trails and roads is so dense that hikers should have a terrain map along with them.
- The trails in the area are easy to navigate, but there are some variations in elevation in the area.
- Trails are not maintained in the winter, during which time some of the summer trails are reserved for use as ski tracks.
- Accessible trails are located at Niiniharju and Uhrilähde.
- The Pirkan ura Trail starts at Niinisalo in Kankaanpää and passes through Hämeenkangas. The trail continues as the Pirkan taipale trail network to Ylöjärvi via Ikaalinen and Hämeenkyrö. The trail is a 90-kilometre-long hiking trail suitable for trekking. Municipalities are responsible for maintaining the trail in their own respective areas.
