A modest open wilderness hut is available year-round.
The open wilderness hut is a shared and free resting and overnight place for independent hikers. You can stay in wilderness huts for one or two nights without a reservation. Be prepared for the possibility that there may not be enough space to sleep in the hut.
Facilities:
- Sleeping places for 6 persons.
- Heating with a stove. Gas and wooden stove for cooking.
- No drinking water point. Water from natural sources must be purified before drinking.
- No waste management. Take your own waste out of the area.
- Bring your own cooking utensils.
- Pets are allowed in the hut only with the consent of other users.
- There is a dry toilet and a woodshelter in the yard.
The hut is located on the island of Ulko-Tammio, on the northern shore of the western bay. Built in 1939, the hut originally served as a wartime observation post and a canteen for soldiers. The building was renovated in the fall of 2011.
