The Bothnian Sea National Park consists of a 160 km long strip of barren islets and islands in the outermost archipelago, which stretches as a narrow strip from Merikarvia to Kustavi. More than 90% of the park area is water. The Bothnian Sea National Park is suitable for the whole family all year round. Many islands are suitable excursion destinations and can be reached by boat or canoe, with boat transports arranged for several destinations.

  • The National Park is a nature reserveEveryman’s Right are not valid as such in national parks.
  • Temporary camping in the area is allowedTemporary camping with Everyman’s Right is allowed, except for parking areas. You can stay overnight in motorhomes in the parking area.
  • Overnight at the cruise port is allowedYou may keep a boat in the excursion port for a maximum of 2 days.
  • Make campfires only in designated sitesAlways check the current wildfire warning before making a fire. During a wildfire warning, fires are only allowed in cooking shelters with a chimney.
  • Remember to bring a trash bagThere is no recycling point in the area. Bring a trash bag and take the trash with you.
  • Always keep pets on a leashAlso remember a dog waste bag and clean up after your dog.
  • Be prepared for areas with limited or no mobile network coverageRemember to take a paper map and compass.
