Wildfire warnings for various parts of Finland

03/31/2025

The wildfire warning season has begun. The Finnish Meteorological Institute has issued wildfire warnings for week 14.

Always check the current warnings before heading out on a trip

On Monday, March 31st, the warning is in effect in Southwest Finland, Satakunta, Kanta-Häme, and Åland. From Wednesday, April 2nd, the warning is extended to Uusimaa, Kymenlaakso, South Ostrobothnia, Ostrobothnia, Päijät-Häme, and Pirkanmaa.

During a wildfire warning, the environment is dry and prone to ignition. Even a small spark can cause a wildfire. Therefore, making open fires is always prohibited, even at designated fire sites such as campfire sites or shelters. During a wildfire warning, fires can only be made in cooking sites, but this can also be restricted in different locations. Check the rules of your destination before heading out.

Always check the current warnings on the Finnish Meteorological Institute's website (ilmatieteenlaitos.fi). In spring, warnings can change quickly, and it is good to be aware of the situation.
