Welcome to the new Luontoon-service
12/10/2024You can find information on all outdoor recreation destinations, trails and services throughout Finland on the Luontoon service. The aim of this service is to promote the well-being of people and nature by making it easier to find destinations and trails and by helping people plan and spend time out in nature. Metsähallitus is developing the service together with users and stakeholders as a service for everyone.
The new Luontoon-service was published today and from now on, you can find all outdoor destinations and trails in Finland in one place. Its purpose is to promote going out into the nature. The service has approximately 3,000 hiking and outdoor routes. In addition to hiking trails, you can also find thousands of routes for cycling, paddling and skiing on the service. You can also browse excursion services offered by the state, municipalities and associations. Luontoon.fi presents the destinations, trails and structures of several different actors. Information is imported from Metsähallitus’ systems and the Lipas database developed by the University of Jyväskylä. Municipalities and other actors can produce content for the Lipas system.
Please note that the technical solutions and content of the service are constantly being improved. If you notice, for example, that government owned destination presentations are missing or incomplete, you can find them at classic.luontoon.fi or on the destination owners' websites.
We have listened to our customers' needs and wishes throughout service development. Now we are in a new phase of service development, where we can develop the service while it is being used. We hope for active discussion and feedback from a wide variety of users and different needs. Read more about the service.
Key features of the new service are a map-based approach, presenting nature through various activities, and up-to-date information from excursion sites.
