Enjoy the fun of winter sports as you ski through the amazing fell scenery. Friendly Siberian jays are on the spot to greet anyone who stops to roast snacks over a campfire at the Kesänkijärvi Lean-to Shelter. Along the way, you’re sure to meet other people enjoying the great outdoors. Watch out for winter bikers on the bridge across Kesänkijoki River – some parts of the trail are for shared use. The track to Kesänkijärvi Lake is mainly flat terrain, making it suitable for children as well. If you want a longer ski, continue on to the Latvamaja and even around Kesänkitunturi Fell. The track turns into the shelter of the forest at Kesänkijärvi Lake. Your journey will include a few short uphill and downhill sections, with occasional glimpses of the lake and fells between the old-growth forest and standing dead trees. The Kesänkijärvi lean-to shelter is a pleasant place to take a break, have a snack and greet the friendly Siberian jays. If you want a longer ski, continue on to the Latvamaja and around Kesänkitunturi Fell. The trail to Latvamaja is one-directional, so it’s important to check the skiing direction because the return track is very speedy.
